Bedroom Items That Improved Our Sleep More Than Expected

Give your self the best possible chance of a good quality nights sleep.

After years of being tired and sad sleeping habits I decided to take action and put it right. I can now say I consistently sleep well, and yes a lot of it is daily habit stuff, but there’s a hell of a lot you can do to improve your sleeping environment. Here are some of the things I use on a nightly basis that helps me get the 8 hours I so desperately need.

It’s sleep.. everyone needs it, so yes it’s 100% worth splashing out a little extra for the better stuff.

Insulated Blackout Curtains

Okay this takes a bit more effort as the installation requires some actual work, but if you’re not living in a rented room and plan to be there for a while, this is 100% worth the effort. Take the time to find a good colour that matches your room, install it and you’ll thank yourself for years to come. Especially if you’re sensitive to light like me, these investments are longterm effects on good quality sleep.

EARPEACE Noise Cancelling Ear Plugs for Sleep

Okay I’ve included the specific brand because this the brand I’ve been using everyday for the last 6 months. I’m not joking. I discovered these first because I wanted good earplugs for a festival I was going to.
When it comes to earplugs and sleeping, you simply cannot buy the cheap ones and expect results. These are specifically designed for sleeping and comfort. These send me to sleep instantly I can’t explain it but they do.

Sleep Mask Silk Cover Eye

I don’t go anywhere without one now. I like my bedroom because it’s totally black out, however I don’t always have the luxury of sleeping in my own bed so these are essential to my travel kit.
Again.. spend that extra £5 for the good design and comfy material, you’ll thank yourself.

Bamboo Bedsheets

If we’re talking about quality of sleep, we need to have a conversation about what we’re sleeping on don’t you think?
Good quality bedsheets get overlooked massively. Bamboo works for me because I they’re just the perfect level of softness and also not crazy expensive (compared to linen) so you can get 2 for the price of one linen. I actually believe it’s personal preference when it comes down to this.. I don’t like the feeling of cold bedsheets that’s why I tend to avoid linen but that’s just my two cents.

A GOOD Dimmable Bedside Table Lamp.

If you don’t have a good bed side table lamp then what are you doing with your life. I wasn’t a believer until my partner showed me the importance of one.. Soft, warm light that doesn’t shock your eyeballs at 1am. Tap, dim, remote, done. Perfect for winding down after late editing or music sessions. No harsh glare = brain chills out faster. Incredddible for shared bedrooms. And personally I love a colour changing one so I can adjust the light to whatever I’m watching on the TV (scary=red ofcourse).

Ergonomic Pillows

I’m actually incredibly passionate about my pillows. There’s a huge amount of research that has been done into the importance of a good pillow, not even just for quality of sleep but longevity of your spine!
My pillows make me feel like I’m falling asleep on a cloud each night. And I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Better sleep isn’t one magic item—it’s layers. Darkness, quiet, comfort, and lighting that tells your brain to chill. After years of late nights, early mornings, and noisy houses… these are the bits I’d buy again instantly.
